Quality Education
While increasing access to education is important, the actual goal of providing schooling is to teach skills and transfer knowledge to students in the classroom. This entry focuses on the outcomes of schooling – effective learning.
At NAUPSCOOL, we focus on quality education that allows children to develop and grow. The whole environment in the school is supportive and at the same time challenging, which nurtures confidence, self-esteem and willingness to strive forward. At the same time, we try to make them compassionate towards everyone.
The curriculum areas cover language, mathematics, science and technology, social studies, physical education, expressive arts and personal and social development. All these areas are important as they cover the multiple intelligences as identified by educational psychologist Dr. Howard Gardner. The whole activities in the kindergarten are so designed to facilitate this achievement by curricular and co-curricular activities
Scouts and Guides assocaiation kerala
We have an active group of students in the Scouts & Guides unit in our NAUPSHOOL. The Scouts is a movement that aims at supporting young students in the proper development of their physical, mental and spiritual capabilities. It surely plays a constructive role in society, with a strong focus on their social and survival skills. The students’ mental and physical fitness is key for their personality.
Science Club
Imparting scientific and technical savvy to the budding intellects is a must. They must be provided with opportunities for hands-on experiences in the technical arena. We believe Running a science club can be an extremely rewarding experience in this regard. They provide the chance to explore and investigate science, even topics outside the curriculum, and enrich learning.
Science Club runs demonstration videos of simple scientific experiments. Using everyday resources and equipment, they guide students and explain the science behind the activities shown. It stimulates their technical knowledge and inspires them to work out some useful contraptions, who knows it will not lead them into some new inventions itself.
The Science Club aims to develop inquisitiveness and a scientific approach to problem-solving, through predicting, testing and analyzing the results of the scientific analysis carried out. Children at Science Club understand that their scientific learning journey begins by asking questions, maybe, making mistakes will be a beginning of it, and inventive thinking. This is an important part of learning which enables them to make useful connections with the world around them. They will naturally learn the truth behind each natural phenomenon. This will inspire them from within, for sure.
Social Science Club
The Social Science Club at NAUPSCHOOL aims at making children capable of becoming responsible, productive, and reliable citizens of the nation. The activities focus on patriotism, discipline, understanding historical culture, the values of social harmony, and universal fraternity. It is an integral part of the prescribed co-curricular activities. The club organizes different activities; like conduction of social science exhibitions, preparation and presentation of project reports on different topics and arranging events of social importance. Poster display campaigns on current issues and socially relevant topics are also included often. Taking students on excursions and educational tours presentation of mock parliament and putting on board skits on current topics is yet another itinerary of the club.
Maths Club
‘Maths Club’ is dedicated to bring out the potential mathematician in each child. As you know the mathematical puzzles and brain teasers are proven learning stimuli. It helps to whet the math-skills and logical thinking skills of the children. The periodic get-togethers of our ‘Maths Club’ deal with mathematical problems outside the syllabus that paves new ways of mastering the day-to-day mathematical enigmas besides the classroom programs. They come in all shapes and sizes and there is no single model that works for every child. ‘Maths Club’ increases purposeful engagements and show children that mathematics can be playful, exciting and wonderful. Holding weekly ‘Maths Club’ meetings take off our curriculum-jacket and work more informally with children while engaging them in a variety of activities for math-skill improvement.
Joining the ‘Maths Club’ is voluntary and is left to the sole discretion of the child. We encourage all to enrol, so they can experience learning mathematics in different ways. Working with peers from other classes and year groups helps children share ideas and cultivate their mathematical skill. Everything possible to make learning mathematics easy and effective will be done here. Operating an extra-curricular club in school takes time and commitment often within an already hectic day of the pupil. Native school teachers make sure that time is spent well and pupils benefit from attending ‘Maths Club’ activities. Too wide a range can cause problems but combining two different age groups works well since we provide mathematical tasks all pupils can attempt. We have two ‘Maths Club’ groups better coordination of the club activities and for instilling a healthy competition among the members.
Sports
“What can be learned in the playground cannot be learned in the classroom”.
Importance of sports in school curriculum can be understood well with this proverb. In modern times, sports have also evolved as a form of entertainment while offering promising careers. Swami Vivekananda once said that we can reach heaven by playing football rather than by reading holy scriptures. Children learn how to get determined in their game while playing with other children. Sports improve the perseverance of kids. To win, a player should do hard work and keep patience while practising. He will learn meticulous practice only will help him achieve success in life. Considering all these positive points, the school introduced its sports promotion initiatives with the clear hope of producing successful footballers, cricketers, sprinters and gymnasts. The school has arranged all possible facilities for this. Dedicated and well-trained coaches encourage students in pursuing heights in sports.
Yoga
NAUPSCHOOL started a new Yoga Club. It conducts regular classes for yoga for all enrolled students. Yoga“ boosts self-confidence” – Yoga helps children build their confidence, increase their strength and their psycho-somatic equilibrium. It teaches them the benefits of hard work, being true to themselves and the pursuit of knowledge with perseverance. Children learn to become comfortable in their skin, love and respect their bodies and develop a confidence that helps them in their daily lives. It helps them inculcate a simple yet effective discipline in their life.
Yoga is all about discipline, about keeping the body, soul and mind in perfect alignment. Each ‘asana’ in yoga has a specific purpose and often takes consistent practice to master. Yoga teaches students to set suitable goals in their life; prepares them capable of working patiently towards those goals and accomplish it optimally. This teaches the students some subtle techniques for a peaceful life and makes them persistent in every good aspect of life. Native school mantra on yoga is:
“Yoga is a light, which once lit will never dim. The better your practice, the brighter your flame.” ― B.K.S Iyengar
